Abstract:
Academic publishing is often perceived as a daunting area, filled with potential pitfalls and adversaries to be overcome. With the goings-on of editors being largely unknown to potential authors, it's no surprise that such a perception exists. The presentation discusses and demystifies the publishing process at Nature Publishing Group. From describing the mechanics of submission and review to a discussion of what the editors at Nature Chemistry are looking for in articles pursued for publication, the presentation seeks to clarify how and why a paper goes from new submission to accepted article. In addition, other opportunities to contribute to the journal will be discussed in context of the role "front half content" has in furthering scientific discourse. It also provides an overview of some chemistry that has recently appeared in the journal and a discussion of where we hope the insights from these manuscripts might open doors in the future.
